Avens Retail Launches Year-Round Free Fruit Giveaway for Kids
Avens Retail, with branches in Overton Road and Rosslyn Street, Kirkcaldy, and also in Ballingry, are following up on their commitment to the community by giving away free fruit to local children.
The company ran a similar give-away in the summer holidays last year and also gave away free soup at Christmas to anyone in need locally.
Operations Manager Michael Cunningham said, “We believe in supporting local families and encouraging healthy lifestyles. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’re giving away a free piece of fruit every single day of the year to school-age kids. Whether you’re shopping for groceries or picking up something special, don’t forget to grab a healthy snack for your child while you’re in-store.
It’s part of our ongoing commitment to promote well-being in our community. No purchase necessary – just stop by and enjoy the freshness of a daily fruit gift!”
Avens Retail is also currently promoting the well being of the community with a Love life, eat well campaign that is making it easier for families to make a healthier choice within the stores.
Michael added, “We’re here to help families stay healthy all year long, I think its especially important for growing children to have access to the benefits of eating a healthy diet to improve body and mind.”

Avens Praised for its Ongoing Community Service
Avens Retail has been praised by the local Community for its Christmas Spirit.
On Christmas Day, the Kirkcaldy business opened up their in-store bakery, to serve up delicious homemade soups for FREE to all of the vulnerable and less fortunate people of Kirkcaldy, working in tandem with The Cottage Family Centre and the Kirkcaldy Salvation Army.
The store used social media to let everyone know that they could just pop along between 9am and 3pm and grab a FREE pot of soup, with no questions asked
Staff welcomed all with open arms, even if it was just for a chinwag or for a bit of company and the social media post received many praises for the company.
This kind of endeavour testifies to the ‘giving back to the community’ ethos that lies at the heart of Avens Retail’s priorities.

Free Fruit for Primary and Nursery aged Children!
Avens Retail has announced that they will continue to support the free fruit for kids offer that was run at the 3 stores during the school holidays.
Zahid Mukhtar, owner of the stores said, “We are proud to partner up with the Healthy Living Programme in Scotland to offer all primary school and nursery school children the opportunity to collect a FREE piece of fruit every single day. We initially ran this fantastic programme during the summer holidays, but we’ve decided to keep this offer continuing on permanently.
Simply pop along with your little one(s) and let them choose their own piece of fruit, on us. I really hope that this action shows our commitment to the communities we serve and our desire to give back to our customers, not only the best products and deals but the best care a local convenience store can provide.”
The Healthy Living Programme is here to support Scottish independent retailers to offer healthy choices and assist in the goal of achieving a healthy nation.

Overton Road Kirkcaldy Opening Launch
Crowds flocked to the Opening Launch of the newly refitted and rebranded store on Saturday, to take part in the entertainment, offers and giveaways available. The new store has been redesigned to give access to disabled users and also mothers with prams and pushchairs, so they can fully navigate the store.
